Kitikmeot School Operations

Kitikmeot School Operations (KitSO) is one of three Regional School Operations (RSOs) in Nunavut. The KitSO supervises and administers activities for eight public schools offering kindergarten through grade 12 programs. Its executive director reports directly to the assistant deputy minister. The main office for the KitSO is located in Kugluktuk.
Responsibilities and Services
The KitSO is responsible for the day-to-day operation of schools, supervision of teaching staff, liaising with District Education Authorities (DEAs), and overseeing the delivery of educational programs and services for kindergarten to grade 12, under the direction of the Department of Education.
The KitSO is also responsible for:

hiring teachers and principals

providing relocation assistance

supporting school staff in various grades, levels, and subjects through its program consultants

approving leaves and tracking school staff attendance

offering in-services on curriculum and programming initiatives

working with and supporting the local District Education Authority (DEAs)
